# Introduction

## Overview

Rialto is an onchain spot exchange to trade crypto, equities, ETFs, and
commodities. Your orders are routed to the best available execution across the
sources Rialto supports.

Rialto's defining liquidity source are propAMMs: onchain market makers that quote
a price from their own pricing logic and inventory, rather than from a passive
constant-product pool. Rialto quotes every candidate source onchain at request
time, ranks routes by output net of gas, and settles the winning route. propAMMs
compete alongside conventional DEX pools on every quote, so you get the best price
without choosing a venue yourself.

## Core Functionality

* Trade a broad range of assets. Buy and sell crypto, equities, ETFs, and
  commodities from one place.
* Get the best available price automatically. Rialto compares every supported
  source on each order and routes to the best execution, so you do not have to
  compare venues yourself.
* Trade onchain from your own wallet. Settlement happens onchain and you trade
  directly from your wallet. Rialto never takes custody of your funds.
* Pay for gas your way. Submit a trade yourself, or use the gasless option where
  you sign the order and the network fee is handled for you.
